In/Humanity se formó en 1991 e hizo su debut en 1992 en la compilación Please No Profanity, un beneficio para estación local de radio universitaria WUSC (que también contó con Hootie and the Blowfish). Su primer lanzamiento fue Intolerable 7" EP, el cual la propia banda lo encontró tan intolerable que destruyeron 275 (de 500 en total) al rayar el vinilo con la punta de una brújula y al lanzarlos en los shows. Siguieron con una serie de 7" EPs y Splits, la mayoría en el sello japonés "HG Fact Records".

Lanzaron su álbum debut, The Nutty Antichrist en 1996 en Passive Fist Records. Su segundo (y último) álbum, The History Behind the Mystery fue lanzado al año siguiente en CD (en 7" sleeve) en HG Fact Records y fue lanzado tarde en LP (incluyendo un bonus de 7") por Prank Records. La banda lanzó su último EP, Occultonomy, en 1998, antes de poner punto final.

La banda tenía un cantante y un guitarrista fijos (Chris Bickel y Paul Swanson, respectivamente) y un elenco rotativo de bajistas y bateristas. Chris Bickel pasó a cantar para Guyana Punch Line, mientras que Paul Swanson fue a tocar con Black Merinos, Tarot Bolero, y actualmente está con Welfare.
